Goals

This study examines comprehensively the longitudinal relationship between the components of PIU and problematic alcohol use. Specifically, the occurrence of negative consequences of PIU predicted an increase in problematic alcohol use. Thus, when the adolescent experiences personal, social, academic, or work problems as a consequence of his or her dysfunctional use of the Internet, the problematic use of alcohol increases.
